1. Sekumpul Waterfall – Bali’s Most Powerful Waterfall
Sekumpul is often called the most beautiful waterfall in Bali – and for good reason. It was the first waterfall we ever visited on the island and remains an absolute favourite! Located in the north, this impressive waterfall consists of multiple streams cascading down a high cliff, surrounded by lush green vegetation. The majestic scenery and the thunderous sound of the water make this place truly unforgettable.
The journey to Sekumpul is an adventure in itself: you will walk through picturesque rice fields, cross a gently flowing river, and descend steep, sometimes slippery, steps. The trek takes at least an hour, and we highly recommend hiring a local guide who can safely lead you through the terrain while sharing interesting insights about the area. These guides can be found at the entrance to the waterfall.
Once you reach the base, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of nature’s raw power. This is a place where you feel small in the grand landscape – and that’s what makes it so magical.
How to visit Sekumpul Waterfall?
Sekumpul Waterfall is located in northern Bali, near the village of Sekumpul and close to the city of Singaraja. From Ubud, one of Bali’s most popular tourist hubs, it takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach this impressive waterfall. The route takes you through picturesque landscapes, rice fields, and small villages, making the journey an experience in itself.
2. Tibumana Waterfall – A Hidden Paradise
Tibumana is a waterfall that plunges in a nearly perfect straight line into a natural pool. Surrounded by lush jungle and moss-covered rocks, it feels like stepping into a fairy tale. It is one of the most easily accessible waterfalls in Bali, making it an ideal stop for those who don’t want to hike too far. Take a refreshing dip and enjoy the tranquillity – Tibumana is far less crowded than many other waterfalls on the island.
How to visit Tibumana Waterfall?
Tibumana Waterfall is located near Ubud, a popular tourist destination in central Bali. The waterfall is easily accessible and is about a 30-minute drive from Ubud’s centre. The route takes you through small villages and rice fields, and a short 10-minute walk will lead you to the waterfall.

3. Gembleng Waterfall – The Natural Infinity Pool
Gembleng is a hidden gem in East Bali that has become increasingly popular in recent years. What makes this place so special are the small natural pools formed at different levels. You can relax in the water while enjoying breathtaking views of the lush green landscape. The waterfall itself is modest, but the entire setting makes this an unforgettable experience. At sunset, this is one of the most photogenic spots in Bali.
It’s worth visiting this waterfall early in the morning, just after sunrise. We arrived around 7 AM and had this beautiful place all to ourselves. Due to heavy rainfall in the days before our visit, the waterfall was fuller than usual, creating a spectacular sight. Locals also took advantage of this; on our way back, we saw several people refreshing themselves in the clear water.
How to visit Gembleng Waterfall?
Gembleng Waterfall is located in East Bali, near Sidemen. From Ubud, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach this unique spot. Once you arrive, the walk to the waterfall is short and relatively easy, though, like most waterfalls in Bali, you’ll need to navigate some stairs.

On top of this, Gembleng Waterfall is only a 25-minute drive from our favourite resort in Bali, Samanvaya Luxury Resort, which offers luxurious stays in beautifully designed bamboo houses. We loved this place so much, we stayed there twice!
4. Munduk Waterfall – A Green Oasis
Munduk is a paradise for nature lovers. This waterfall, located in Bali’s cooler highlands, feels like a secret jungle oasis. The walk to the waterfall is easy and takes you through a landscape of tropical plants and fragrant clove trees. The waterfall itself is powerful and impressive, surrounded by vibrant green ferns. The sound of cascading water and the fresh air make this a perfect place to escape the heat and crowds of South Bali.
How to visit Munduk Waterfall?
Munduk Waterfall is located in northern Bali, near the village of Munduk. From Lovina Beach, a well-known coastal town in the north, it’s about a 45-minute drive. The waterfall is accessible via a short jungle walk, leading you through stunning nature and local agricultural fields.
Munduk Waterfall is located just a short drive from Munduk Moding Plantation, one of Bali’s most renowned eco-luxury resorts. This plantation is famous for its stunning infinity pool, which appears to blend seamlessly with the sky, offering an unforgettable vantage point to take in Bali’s misty highlands.
5. Tukad Cepung Waterfall – Magical Sunlight in a Hidden Cave
Tukad Cepung is perhaps the most unique waterfall on this list. It is hidden inside a cave, and at the right time of day, sunlight shines perfectly through the opening, creating a magical effect. It feels like walking into a secret temple, with water flowing down the rock walls and sunbeams dancing on the water’s surface. This is an absolute must-visit for photographers and nature lovers!
Next to Tukad Cepung, there is another smaller waterfall located in the same canyon. Although less grand, this extra waterfall is still a beautiful sight. Water flows down the rock walls, and the interplay of light in the narrow passage makes it feel like a hidden gem. Visitors can easily combine both waterfalls in one visit and enjoy the serene, enchanting atmosphere of this canyon.
Tukad Cepung Waterfall is located in the Bangli region, about an hour’s drive from Ubud. The route takes you through traditional Balinese villages and past stunning rice terraces. From the car park, it’s a relatively short but adventurous walk through a narrow canyon to reach the waterfall.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to walk about 300 metres through the water to reach Tukad Cepung Waterfall. Water shoes can be useful for this part of the journey.
